Today I have the wonderful @kl.kettle taking over Today I have the wonderful @kl.kettle taking over for the #TheBoyIAm tour! She's written a great guest post for you all. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
📖📖⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
While #TheBoyIAm has undergone over seven years of work, the character of Jude was always fully formed from the day his name arrived in my head, the same day he arrived on the page. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There are so many things about him that have never changed even before the moment he properly introduced himself to me with what’s now the first sentence of the book, ‘My name is Jude Grant, and I am alive’. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The five things that I love about him the most have always been there, even if it took me some time to find them.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In High House boys are often competing with each other, so when Jude finds his first friend he’ll do anything, and go anywhere for him. Is there such a thing as ‘too far’?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Jude knows his life is the most valuable thing he has, but he would give his life to change the world for the boys around him, whether they ever find out about it or not. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Surrounded by people who intend him harm, Jude still doesn’t judge people on how they look, nor their apparent gender, his choices are based on what people do, not what they are. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Despite being kept from the world all his life Jude he knows something is wrong with the way it works, and he won’t rest until others see it too. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
An interesting fact is that the first three drafts of this book were a dual narrative. Jude was so tenacious he kept on taking up more and more chapters, insisting I tell his story. I fought hard to disagree with him, but it wasn’t going to happen. So, don’t expect him to give up. Ever. If he wore me down, he can do anything he puts his mind to.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

LOVELY

Sunday morning! Time to go to acting class. With my hips swinging like this and like that, I am walking past the guava seller.
“Brother,” I am calling, “what’s the time?”
“Eight thirty,” he is grumbling, because he is not wishing to share with me the fruits of his wristwatch. Leave him. I am abandoning my stylish walk and running like a horse to the local railway station. On the train, while I am touching my chest and forehead, saying a prayer for those poor people who were dying a few days ago at this very station—
“Who is pushing?” one aunty is shouting. “Stop it!” “This hijra couldn’t find a different compartment to hassle?” the peanut seller is hissing, as if I am not having ears.
Nothing is simple for a person like me, not even one hour on the train. My chest is a man’s chest, and my breasts are made of rags. So what? Find me another woman in this whole city as truly woman as me.
In the middle of this crowd a legless beggar is coming down the corridor, sitting on a wheeled plank of wood which he is rolling on everybody’s feet.
“Give me one coin,” he is whining.
People are yelling at him.
“Now you need to pass?”
“No eyes or what?”
“Where will I stand, on your head?”
Now he is also shouting back, “Let me cut off your legs, then you see how you manage!”
It is true to god making me laugh and laugh. This is why I am liking the local trains. You can be burning one train, but you cannot be stopping our will to go to work, to class, to family if we have them. Every local train is like a film. On the train, I am observing faces, body movements, voices, fights. This is how people like me are learning. When this train is swaying, picking up speed, wind whipping my hair, I am putting my fingertips on the ceiling, making my body straight and tall for Mr. Debnath’s acting class.

Hi Book Friends!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I hope you're having a brilliant first day of 2021! I was rushed off my feet yesterday so I am once again posting a late tour post. I cannot apologise to Rin and @pridebooktours enough. Going back to work after resting for two weeks has definitely taken it out of me!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Anyway, here's the synopsis for this book which I am so excited to read as soon as I have finished the amazing Never Tilting World!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After a treacherous journey and a life-shattering meeting with a twin neither knew they had, Haidee and Odessa expected to emerge from the Great Abyss to a world set right. But though the planet is turning once again, the creatures of the abyss will not rest until they have tasted another goddess’s sacrifice.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To break the cycle, Haidee and Odessa need answers that lie beyond the seven gates of the underworld, within the Cruel Kingdom itself. The shadows of the underworld may hunger to tear them apart, but these two sisters are determined to heal their world—together.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Hi All! I know it's been a while since I last post Hi All!
I know it's been a while since I last posted. I just needed a little bit of a break over the holidays but I am back with a delayed #bookstagramtour post! I was due to post this on Christmas Eve but annoyingly the book only arrived today. But on to the synopsis of this amazing sounding sequel!

Fight or flight . . . or both?

Three months after Aderyn's coronation the court is celebrating the Solstice, but Aderyn is preoccupied by Lucien's continuing hostility. The celebrations are interrupted by the arrival of nobles who have escaped from the neighbouring country of Celonia - the flightless have risen up and overthrown their rulers. The world is changing.

As people begin to question whether Aderyn and Aron are strong enough to rule, there is an attempted assassination on Aderyn's life. Siegfried and Tallis have made their move - they have formed an army, declared war and will take the throne, by any means necessary.

Aderyn must fly to uncharted territories and risk the lives of everyone she loves, to defeat her enemies, secure her throne and unite her people.

Epic, dangerous and impossible to put down, this finale takes you on a soaring journey through grief, strength and determination to fight for what is right, what you love and what is yours.
